§ 4-28. Trapping nuisance animals.

  • If, in the opinion of the city animal control department and/or state wildlife and fisheries officers and/or health authorities of the city and/or parish, fowl, wildlife, feral or domesticated animals are found to be a nuisance or a menace to health or property, then such officers shall have the right to order the capture and removal of same. The animal control department may issue humane traps or boxes in the care of a city resident for the capture of these nuisance animals. Additionally, it shall require a refundable deposit of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) from the resident and the execution of an agreement for the loan of the humane box or trap.

    Animals trapped in accordance with this section may be subject to the impoundment provisions provided in article II of this chapter.
